Sweet Renee covered us for not having his party on his birthday and did a special birthday dinner for him. Trevor’s theme for his birthday was “red” so Renee and Steve did a Red Breakfast dinner for him. They made red pancakes in all different shapes and dyed the eggs red and everything. Trevor was so excited about his red dinner that he kept talking about it all throughout the night and even the next day. Thanks for covering for us Renee and still making his actual birthday special.
The next night, Sunday night, we had Trevor’s big birthday party. We decided to just do a family party because frankly, Trevor doesn’t have a lot of friends outside of his cousins. (He is still kind of rude to the kids in his primary class.) As I mentioned Trevor’s theme this year was RED. When I asked him what kind of a party he wanted he told me “a Red-Man party, with a cape.” I asked him if he wanted a super-hero party like Superman or Spiderman and he informed me that no, he wanted a “Red-Man” party. So we had a fictional superhero party for Red-Man. Luckily in his dress-up clothes we already have a red cape so he was able to wear that and we just did the theme as red. What a lucky mom am I to have a kid who just wants Red for a party theme. It was the easiest thing to plan.
We had Red cups and napkins, Red balloons and streamers. He said he wanted a red cake, “not just red frosting but red inside.” So we did a red velvet cake with white cream cheese frosting with a fruit roll up for a red cape on it. At the party we played “Don’t Eat Pete” with red pictures on the game board and the highlight of the party for me was watching the kids play “Red Rover.”

Since it was winter we couldn’t go outside to play so we just played in our dinky front room, but it didn’t really matter a whole lot since most of the kids were little enough that they didn’t hardly understand how to play let alone need a big space to play it. Jaycee was a big help in keeping the game going and was a good sport playing with the little kids. Trevor and Brenen got the idea of the game fairly quickly, but Braiden really struggled. Every time it was his turn the kids would shove him forward to try to get him to run and then he would just stand there until Steve helped him run to the other line. I have to admit I haven’t enjoyed watching a children’s game quite as much, if ever. They were adorable.
