Catching up on February

Okay, so apparently I suck at the blogging thing. I did a really good job at January, but have since fallen off the band wagon and have really struggled getting myself back on. My problem tends to be that whenever I am on the computer I am either working and feel like I should be doing more for my classes or I am watching "Lost." It has become a very bad obsession. I have almost caught up to the current season though, and then it will be done. Until I can convince Landon that he needs to watch all of it.

February was a month filled with thanks for my sweetheart. Landon's birthday is on Groundhogs Day, the 2nd, and it was a really enjoyable day for us this year. We played it really low key during the day and then had people over for apple pie that evening. We also did our annual watching of the movie "Groundhog Day" and snuggled. I enjoy getting to spend a day remembering why I love my honey so much. His birthday also symbolizes the anniversary of our engagement. Yes, we got engaged on his birthday 6 years ago and go figure, I still love him.

It only gets to continue the love fest in February with Valentine's Day. This was probably one of the most fun Valentine's I have ever had. Coming in second behind the one right after we got engaged. We decided to play it cheap on the gifts for each other this year and just do a fun date night instead. Landon and I started taking a Ballroom dance class every Friday night. It just so happened that our Stake was also having it's annual Valentine's Day dance on Friday this year, so we went to Ballroom, then out to dinner, and then to the Stake Dance. We danced all night, didn't care what anybody else thought, and had a blast! I love that I have a husband who will dance all night with me and make of fool of himself. They took pictures at the dance and when I get a copy I will post it with this.

Since we decided to go cheap on gifts I decided to do a homemade gift for Landon. I got the idea off of daveramsey.com (one of my new favorite sites). I came up with a reason why I love him for everyday from Valentine's Day to our Anniversary in May. It was really good for me to sit and write down all of the reasons why I love him and why he is so perfect for me. Sometimes you need those reminders, and if I need them, just think how much he needs them too. It has also allowed us to have a little bit of February to last us through the rest of the dark months until our anniversary. Ellen helped me with the project and ever since she has been writing Daddy love notes on red pieces of paper and leaving them all over the house for him. They are so cute!

February also brought a visit from Landon's mom, Diane. It is so much fun to have her here, and she was here for a long time. She came to help Landon's little sister move into her house, but since Renee was dealing with HUD it took a lot longer than expected and Diane was here for a whole month. That gave us lots of time to spend with her and lots more time for the kids to get to play with her. They love having Grandma around and Trevor is still asking where Grandma is.

We also were able to take a trip to Boise at the end of the month to visit both my parents and Landon's brother Steven and his wife Lindsay. Since Grandma Ladwig was wanting to go too we hitched a ride with her and Renee and Steve decided to come as well. It was so fun riding in the car with Grandma and our kids loved getting to watch the movie on the built in DVD player where they could see it so well. We spent a really enjoyable Saturday in Boise with the Ladwig clan going to the Boise Children's Discovery Museum and out to dinner. The museum was awesome!!!! I would recommend it to anyone. Our kids had a blast and the adults did too. It really is a lot of fun for all ages. Once again, hopefully there will be pictures to post with this soon. (We left our camera at my parents in Boise and haven't gotten it back yet.)

The next day we spent with the Kunz's going to church with Joe and Gretchen and then having dinner at their house. I love being at my parent's house. Even though I have never lived there it really is going home. I am a grown adult with a family of my own, yet there is such a sense of security and peace when you are in your parent's home. It has been a long time since we had just gone to hang out there and we were reminded that we need to do it more often. It does a soul good to visit with family.
